Kitchen in a Box?

What does Kitchen in a Box® mean? Can you really put a whole kitchen in a box?

It helps to understand what goes on when you are trying to open a new or refurbished property. It's organized chaos. We say "organized" because you have a plan. We say "chaos" because some things are just out of your control. Anything can happen, and it usually does. Then there's the "domino effect"… So whatever makes your job easier is most welcome.

Kitchen in a Box® is a service we developed nearly twenty years ago to make opening a new or refurbished property flow more smoothly. Even our competitors have noticed and tried to duplicate the service. If you are building a new project, for example, you don't want little things to be on site too early or they will get lost, damaged, or stolen. Usually, the items for your kitchen are things you don't need until you have nearly completed the project. And when you think about it, there are a lot of little things that go into a kitchen. There are certain pieces of silverware and a drawer divider to hold those pieces. There are various utensils that are common to most kitchens and possibly a decorative utensil holder in which to keep them. There are dishes and bowls and napkins and small appliances and glasses and plastic containers, and on and on.

When you ask us about this service, we can suggest a list of items, but the decision is up to you, the buyer. Therefore, each Kitchen in a Box® is custom made to the specific needs of the purchaser. It's like snow flakes—there are no two exactly alike. There are also different levels of quality from which to choose.

Now, it's true, not absolutely everything can physically fit into one box. You won't find any ironing boards in our Kitchen in a Box® packages. You also will not find items that make the box unusually heavy, such as china. That's for two reasons: (1) because it causes the box to be too heavy and (2) because the chances of breakage increase.

We do our best to ensure that there is minimum breakage when we ship these packages to you. In fact, on larger orders, we palletize and use special shrink wrap to identify our load. That way when the shipment is delivered to you, you can see if there has been any obvious damage if the shrink wrap has been compromised. We go a step further and label each box on the outside as to what room type it should be placed in. Let's say you are opening a property that has 30 rooms with partial kitchens and 60 rooms with full kitchens. The Kitchen in a Box® will be tailored to fit these two different room types. So without opening each box, you know at a glance where they need to be placed.

On the packing slip, we inform you which boxes are for your inventory and which are for the rooms themselves.

Our customers claim that they would not have it any other way. Openings can either be tedious and time consuming and cause your staff to run back and forth multiple times, or they can run efficiently and significantly reduce the number of trips in and out of rooms and thereby making it easier to truly manage a project.

Lodging Supply inventories nearly 800 items and processes orders within 48 hours. Lodging Supply will work with your budget to provide the level of quality you expect at prices you can afford. When you order inventoried items, we can provide replacements without ordering by the case to help you maintain your budget. Glassware, for example, typically comes in cases of three dozen. You don't need to order that many from us. We can provide as little as one dozen. If you only need one ashtray, we can provide one ashtray. There is no minimum order.
